Gastroesophageal reflux disease ( GERD ) is a chronic form of acid reflux. It occurs when stomach content flows back into the esophagus or food pipe. This irritates the linings of food pipe cause severe heartburn, burning in the throat, dysphagia , chest pain , hoarseness , sour taste , etc .

Avipattikar Churna only prevents flow back of the stomach content impelling it to intestines . However, it has no action on the weakness of the lower esophageal sphincter, which is the main cause of Gerd . For removing the root cause, one may require other remedies such as Abhrak Bhasma , Yashad Bhasma, Vanshlochan , Licorice , etc .
